The Mission

110 Floors. Completed.

An extraordinary challenge. A deeply personal tribute. Firefighters representing North Yorkshire joined more than 200 firefighters from across the UK and Ireland for the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb in Atlanta, Georgia, coming together with firefighters from the USA to remember those who gave their lives in service to others.

The challenge was to climb 110 floors in full firefighting personal protective equipment (PPE). Every floor was a step towards honouring the 343 FDNY firefighters who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. Many participants also carried the name and photograph of one of those firefighters, making the climb not simply a physical achievement, but an individual act of remembrance.

Before the climb, our message was simple: good luck to everyone taking part — every step matters. With the challenge completed, that message becomes a heartfelt well done. A remarkable achievement and a fitting tribute.

Remembering Those Who Served

This event is about remembrance, respect, service and solidarity. Alongside honouring the firefighters who died on 9/11, the fundraising effort supports charities helping firefighters, emergency service personnel and their families today.

For the 343 invites people to honour fallen firefighters by symbolically finishing their climb. The movement highlights the work of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation: honouring fallen fire heroes, supporting their families and colleagues, and working to reduce preventable firefighter deaths and injuries. Its donation page offers a way to support this wider mission of remembrance and care.

A Shared Purpose: Protecting People

At TCW, we were proud to support the firefighters representing North Yorkshire. Although we work in very different ways, we share a common purpose: protecting people and the communities we serve.

We help housing providers identify risk, take action and keep people safe in their homes. Firefighters do that every day in a very different way — running towards the risks others are running from. Standing behind those who spend their working lives protecting our communities is something we are proud to do.

Every Step Matters

To everyone who took part: well done. Completing 110 floors in full firefighting PPE is an incredible effort, made more meaningful by the people and the purpose each participant carried with them.

If you would like to support the fundraising effort, visit the For the 343 donation page. The climb may be complete, but the opportunity to stand behind firefighters, emergency service personnel and their families continues.
