The Achievement
The Appointment
Ryan Dempsey, Chief Executive of TCW, has joined the judging panel for the Best Business Awards — one of the UK's most respected business award programmes, celebrating the organisations setting the pace for innovation, transformation and customer care.
As a Fellow of the IET and an award-winning CEO, Ryan brings an engineer's eye to the judging table. His career began in the housing sector, where he saw first-hand the need to understand and manage vast amounts of data more efficiently — the insight that became TCW. Today, TCW turns asset, supply chain, logistics and compliance data into actionable, reportable insight with a tangible impact on the organisations that use it.
Ryan's judging philosophy reflects his own: if you support and empower people by giving them visibility of data and information, things change for the better.
About the Awards
The Best Business Awards recognise excellence across UK business, with categories spanning innovation, business transformation, technology, customer care, marketing and workplace culture.
The judging panel is chaired by Joe Calder OStJ, a philanthropist and technology innovator who has held senior positions at Google, Intel and PayPal, and now spearheads research at Meta into extended, augmented and virtual reality. He sits alongside a panel of senior business leaders, founders and specialists from across UK industry.
Fellow judges include Alex Boucher MBE, a leading figure in the UK video games industry; Steve Pailthorpe, Founder and Chief Executive of Iconic Digital; David Empson, Founder and CEO of Generous APE; Dave Thornton, Managing Director of Thornton & Lowe; Julia Tybura, executive coach and Managing Director of Zenon Consulting; and strategic communications expert Kate Howell, formerly of Borough Market.
The Winners
Recent Best Business Awards winners show the breadth of achievement the programme recognises. Artificial intelligence infrastructure and transformation company Nevari took Best Innovation, Disruptor of the Year for Product/Service, AI Technology of the Year and the Tech Visionary Award, with the chairman of the judges praising its ability to connect technology, governance and human intelligence into one cohesive framework.
Vakif Katilim Bankasi was recognised for Best Business Transformation and named Best Place to Work, while Pladis collected the Technology Innovation Award. The Independent Game Developers' Association (TIGA) and Morgan Clark were both honoured for customer care, BSH Ev Aletleri Sanayi ve Ticaret won Best Marketing & Communications Initiative, and Etihad Water & Electricity took the Health & Safety Award. Marina Nicholas received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The full roll of honour — including the judges' comments on every winner — is available on the Best Business Awards website.
